Many teachers hoping to gain more insight into integrating technology into their classrooms, will find 4teachers.org to be a very good website. In fact, the subtitle for this page is "Teach with Technology." This site contains several articles regarding technology and its appropriate use in the classroom. The website is easy to navigate, and information is readily available and easily found. Available information includes technology lessons, quizzes, and rubrics for teacher use. There are many links to other educational sites and even some skill building tools for student use. Teachers can also find helps for working with special education and English Language Learners. One link on the website even offers several helps for requesting grants to help with technology integration. A video portal even offers video tutorials, and several links lead to professional development opportunities. Overall, this site serves as a directory of sorts to several articles, tools, videos, and professional development opportunities for teachers.
In my evaluation of this website, I gave the highest marks for appearance, ease of navigation, clear purpose, and content appropriate for student objectives. The lowest marks went for not having the name of the author and not having a place for feedback and discussion. Although some links on this site lead to online professional development opportunities, there was no clear place for discussion, and I really felt that was the only thing lacking in this website. Having a place where teachers could discuss their technology needs and share ideas that have worked would be a great addition to this site. However, I feel that all-in-all, this site offers much needed resources for teachers, and I plan on sharing it with my colleagues.
